Promotions

Go to Promotions in the main menu.

Promotions let you offer discounts to your customers and choose exactly where they apply. You can discount a percentage or a dollar amount off an order, target the whole cart or only selected products and categories, and decide whether the discount applies automatically at checkout or is applied by your team at the point of sale.

Each promotion can run across your online store, in-store point of sale, event bookings and reservations, so you can organise a single campaign once and let Members One apply it on every channel you choose.

The Promotions List

The Promotions page lists every promotion you have created. Below is a table of list page items and their functions.

TitleThe name you gave the promotion, used to recognise it at a glance.
StatusShows whether a promotion is Draft, Scheduled, Active, Paused or Expired. Only Active promotions are offered to customers.
ActionA short summary of the discount, such as a percentage off or a dollar amount off.
AudienceWho the promotion is for, either everyone or specific contact types.
ChannelsThe sales channels the promotion applies to, such as WooCommerce, Shopify, POS, Events or Reservations.
UsedThe number of times the promotion has been redeemed so far.
Starts and EndsThe optional start and end dates that control when the promotion is live.
ActionsThe menu to Edit, Duplicate, Pause or Resume, and Delete a promotion.
Creating a Promotion

Select the add button on the Promotions page to open the promotion builder. The builder guides you through five steps, and you can move backwards and forwards between them before you save.

Step 1: Basics

  • Give the promotion a Title, which is how you will recognise it in your list.
  • Add an optional Description for your own reference.
  • Use the Status toggle to set the promotion to Draft or Active. A Draft is saved but not offered to customers, while Active makes it live.
  • Optionally set a Starts at and Ends at date. Leaving these blank means the promotion has no time limit.

Step 2: Reward

  • Choose a Discount Type, either Percentage off or Amount off.
  • Enter the Value, either a percentage or a dollar amount depending on the discount type you selected.
  • Choose what the discount Applies To: Whole cart to discount the entire order, Selected products to discount only the products you list, or Selected categories to discount only items in the categories you choose.

Step 3: Audience

  • Decide who can redeem the promotion. Choose Everyone, or choose Specific contact types to limit the promotion to customers tagged with the contact types you select.

Step 4: Redemption

  • Choose how the promotion is triggered. Automatic applies the discount whenever a customer qualifies, and Staff pick lets your team apply it manually at the point of sale. You can select one or both.
  • Select the Available Channels where the promotion should apply: WooCommerce, Shopify, Point of sale (POS), Events and Reservations.
  • Optionally set a Total usage limit and a Per-customer limit. Leave either blank for unlimited redemptions.

Step 5: Review

  • Review a plain-English summary of the promotion you have built.
  • Save the promotion as a draft, or activate it to make it live.
  • Once saved as a draft, you can use the built-in test tool to preview how the promotion would apply to a chosen customer, channel and cart before you activate it.

Note: When more than one discount could apply to the same order, the customer receives the one that gives the largest discount.

Where Promotions Apply

The channels you select in the Redemption step decide where a promotion is offered. Each channel behaves slightly differently.

Point of sale, Events and Reservations

  • Promotions on these channels apply straight away once the promotion is active.
  • Staff pick promotions appear for your team to apply manually at the point of sale, which is useful for spur-of-the-moment discounts your staff decide to offer.

WooCommerce and Shopify

  • WooCommerce discounts apply once the Members One WordPress plugin update is installed on your store.
  • Shopify discounts require a connected Shopify store.
Managing Promotions

You can manage every promotion from the Actions menu on the Promotions list.

Edit and Duplicate

  • Select Edit to reopen the builder and change any step of a promotion.
  • Select Duplicate to create a copy you can adjust and reuse, which saves rebuilding a similar promotion from scratch.

Pause, Resume and Delete

  • Select Pause to temporarily stop an active promotion from applying, then Resume when you want it live again.
  • Select Delete to remove a promotion you no longer need.

Please note: Deleting a promotion removes it from your list. If you only want to stop it for a while, pause it instead so you can resume it later.

Congratulations! You have created your first promotion. Your customers can now receive the discount on every channel you selected, and you can track how often it is used from the Promotions list.
