Go to Members One > Configuration in your WordPress dashboard to find the master switch for this behaviour, Allow MO Discounts?, under Discounts.
Members One discounts and WooCommerce coupon codes never combine on the same order. When a customer qualifies for a Members One discount, whether it comes from a club membership, a loyalty discount tier, or a promotion, that discount always takes priority and coupon codes are set aside. This keeps your pricing predictable and protects your margins from accidental double discounting.
How Discount Priority Works
One Discount at a Time
- Members One applies a single discount to the cart: the best one the customer qualifies for. A club membership discount takes priority over a loyalty discount tier, and promotions are weighed against both automatically.
Always Calculated on the Full Price
- The discount percentage is applied to your normal product pricing, never to a coupon-reduced total. Products on sale keep their sale price, and the discount is calculated on that sale price.
What Customers See
Applying a Coupon While Discounted
- A customer who already has an active Members One discount and enters a coupon code sees the message "Coupon codes can't be combined with your membership discount." and the coupon is not applied.
Coupons Applied Before Logging In
- If a customer applies a coupon as a guest and then logs in to an account with an active discount, the coupon is removed automatically and a notice explains that it cannot be combined with their membership discount. Their Members One discount is then calculated on the full cart value.
Customers Without a Members One Discount
- Guests and customers who do not currently qualify for any Members One discount can use coupon codes exactly as normal. Nothing changes for them.
The Allow MO Discounts Setting
Allow MO Discounts? controls whether Members One discounts are applied in your WooCommerce store at all.
- Yes: club, loyalty and promotion discounts apply in the cart, and the coupon priority rule above is enforced.
- No: no Members One discounts are applied in your store, and coupon codes immediately behave as normal for everyone. Your discounts remain configured in the Vendor Panel and continue to work on other channels.
Please note: discount priority over coupons requires version 1.8.7.1.11 or later of the Members One WordPress plugin. On earlier versions, coupons and Members One discounts could be combined on the same order.
