Klaviyo Integration Overview
Want to join Klaviyo? Sign up for a Klaviyo account.
Need to log in? Log in to Klaviyo.
The Members One Klaviyo integration allows you to sync your customers and members into specific lists within Klaviyo, so you can send targeted marketing emails without managing lists by hand.
Each club and each loyalty tier automatically creates its own lists in Klaviyo, and Members One updates the members on those lists whenever someone joins or leaves a club or loyalty tier. Klaviyo can run alongside Brevo, so you can use both at the same time if you wish.
How to Connect Members One to Klaviyo
To connect Members One to Klaviyo, follow the steps below.
Step 1: Log in to your Klaviyo account, then go to Settings > API Keys. Select Create Private API Key.
Step 2: Give the key a name you will recognise (we recommend "Members One"). Members One needs to read and update your lists and profiles, so give the key Full Access, or grant it read and write access to both Lists and Profiles. Copy the key once it is created.
Please note: Keep your Private API Key secure. Treat it like a password, as it allows access to your Klaviyo account.
Step 3: Go to Members One > Integrations > Connections > Email Marketing > Klaviyo. Turn on the Activate toggle, paste your key into the Private API Key field, then click Save.
Step 4: Click Test Connection to confirm everything is working. When the connection succeeds, a green Connected indicator appears. If it shows Connection failed, check that your key is correct and has the required access, then try again.
Congratulations! Your Members One vendor panel is now connected to Klaviyo, and new members will start syncing to your lists shortly.
Managing Clubs & Loyalty Discounts in Klaviyo
Once connected, Members One will automatically create and manage lists for your clubs and loyalty tiers. Each member is added to Klaviyo as a profile and placed on the right list based on their current status.
How members are organised
- Each club creates two lists, one for current members and one for former members:
- {Club name} - Active for current members
- {Club name} - Cancelled for members who have left
- Each loyalty tier creates its own list in the format Loyalty - {tier name}.
- Members One adds a member to the matching list when they join and moves them to the Cancelled list when they leave, so your lists always reflect who is currently active.
Only members who are Active or Cancelled are synced. Members in other states, such as paused or pending, are not added to a list until they become active.
This setup lets you build campaigns and automations in Klaviyo around exactly the right members, whether that is a single club, a loyalty tier, or your former members.
Please note: Contacts and lists are created or updated on a daily basis. If you have just connected Klaviyo and don't yet see your lists or contacts, please allow up to 24 hours for the first sync to complete.
Resyncing Your Contacts
New members sync to Klaviyo automatically, but if you have just connected Klaviyo, or you have deleted lists in Klaviyo and want to rebuild them, you can trigger a full resync yourself.
Step 1: Open the Klaviyo integration
- Go to Members One > Integrations > Connections > Email Marketing > Klaviyo.
Step 2: Resync your contacts
- Make sure the Activate toggle is on and your Private API Key is saved, then click Resync Contacts.
- Members One backfills your existing customers and members into their club lists and loyalty tier lists. Any list that was deleted in Klaviyo is recreated in the process. This runs in the background and may take a little while to finish for larger accounts.
Contact Types in Klaviyo
Contact types can sync to Klaviyo as their own lists. When you enable Sync to email marketing (Brevo, Mailchimp, Klaviyo) on a contact type, the members assigned that type are added to a matching list in Klaviyo, so you can email them alongside your club and loyalty lists.
To learn how to create and manage contact types, see the Contact Types article.
